About Our Name
With the growth of Laureate Medical Group came change. The addition of experienced physicians and staff, additional locations and an enhanced level of care using technologically advanced diagnostic equipment on-site.
In 2000, the practice, originally known as Drs. Palay, Frank, Brown, Gottlieb & Leaderman, and Shulman, P.C. was re-named Laureate Medical Group to expresses our professional and personal goals of excellent care in a compassionate environment.
Laureate is taken from the Latin 'laureatus' - which means crowned with laurel. Ancient Greeks used a wreath of laurel to crown victors in the Pythian games, subsequently, the laurel wreath came to symbolize excellence, achievement and honor.
