Laureate Medical Group Receives National Accreditation for Diabetes Care

The physicians and mid-level providers at Laureate Medical Group have been recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Diabetes Recognition Program (DPRP) for consistently providing high quality care to their patients with diabetes.

To qualify, each physician and mid-level provider submitted performance data in 10 areas of diabetes care, including eye exams, blood pressure tests, glucose levels, lipid control, and smoking status and cessation advice or treatment.

"For the person with diabetes, the right clinician can make the difference between living with it, as opposed to suffering from it," said NCQA President Margaret E. O'Kane. "By earning this recognition, Laureate Medical Group has demonstrated that they provide effective, evidence-based care to their patients with diabetes."

According to data gathered by the NCQA, patients with diabetes who receive care based on these guidelines are less likely to suffer complications such as heart attacks, stroke, blindness, kidney disease and amputations.
