Laureate Medical Group’s Cheryl Orlansky has been awarded Outstanding Dietitian of the Year by the Georgia Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (GAND). Orlansky was presented with the award in early March at the annual conference of the Georgia Academy, held in Atlanta. “This is such an honor for me and a highlight of my professional career!” Orlansky said. In addition to her certification as a Registered Dietitian, Orlansky holds credentials as a Licensed Dietitian (LD), a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE), and she has earned a Certificate in Weight Management from the Commission on Dietetic Registration. “Cheryl’s most definitely deserving of this award,” GAND President Jill McCoy said. “She has an extremely gracious attitude of commitment to our profession, and she has been tireless in her efforts to promote the Registered Dietitian.” As the organization’s state media representative, Orlansky created Diet 411, an event that partnered with Georgia Public Broadcasting to provide a toll-free number for Georgians to pose their nutrition questions to Registered Dietitians. In conjunction with Atlanta’s V103 radio station, she has produced educational videos, conducted supermarket tours and food demos, and placed public service announcements during National Nutrition Month. Her latest undertaking is a cookbook titled “Seasonal Eats: A Recipe Collection of Georgia Products.” The book is a compilation of healthy seasonal recipes submitted by Registered Dietitians and students, and it features exclusively Georgia-grown produce and products.
