Ann Allender, RN, CDE

Nutrition and Diabetic Education

I enjoy teaching the various aspects of diabetes management such as nutrition, medications and monitoring. I have had Type 1 Diabetes since 1975, and feel fortunate to be able to relate to people from the perspective of shared experience.

About Ms. Allender

Ann started her nursing career in 1991 with full intent on becoming a diabetes educator. She has a background that includes teaching high school Mathematics, 23 years as a cardiac and diabetes educator and 15 years of experience teaching patients the use and management of insulin pumps and glucose sensors. She embraces the diverse needs of persons with diabetes, and feels it is imperative to address both the physical and emotional aspects of managing the disease. In her free time she enjoys hiking, kayaking, biking, and reading.
